Dr. iur. Monika Plozza ist wissenschaftliche Oberassistentin am Institut für öffentliches Recht der Universität Bern und Lehrbeauftragte an der Universität Luzern. Im akademischen Jahr 2024/2025 lehrt sie Völkerrecht, Migrationsrecht, International Human Rights Law sowie International Humanitarian Law.
Ihre juristische Ausbildung absolvierte sie an den Universitäten Luzern und Edinburgh. Das Doktoratsstudium schloss sie an der Universität Luzern mit höchster Auszeichnung ab. Ihre Doktorarbeit wurde mit dem Luzerner Dissertationspreis als beste Arbeit der Rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultät ausgezeichnet und wird als Monografie bei Cambridge University Press erscheinen.
Forschungsaufenthalte führten sie an die Universitäten Amsterdam, Kopenhagen und Oxford sowie an die Haager Akademie für Völkerrecht. Während ihres Doktoratsstudiums wurde sie zudem als Schindler Junior Scholar in das Förderprogramm des Instituts für Völkerrecht und ausländisches Verfassungsrecht der Universität Zürich aufgenommen. Im Jahr 2025 wurde sie für eine fünfjährige Amtszeit als Mitglied in die Jungen Akademie Schweiz gewählt.
Neben ihrer akademischen Tätigkeit war Monika Plozza Beraterin für das «Right to Science» beim Geneva Science Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA), einer vom Eidgenössischen Departement für auswärtige Angelegenheiten (EDA) geründeten Stiftung. Vor Beginn ihres Doktoratsstudiums war sie im Stab Recht des Staatssekretariats für Migration (SEM) tätig.

Dr. iur. Monika Plozza is a senior research associate at the Institute of Public Law at the University of Bern and a lecturer at the University of Lucerne. During the 2024/25 academic year, she is teaching Public International Law, Migration Law, International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law.
She studied law at the Universities of Lucerne and Edinburgh and completed her doctorate at the University of Lucerne with the highest distinction. Her dissertation was awarded the Lucerne Dissertation Prize for the best doctoral thesis in the Faculty of Law and will be published as a monograph by Cambridge University Press.
Dr. Plozza conducted research at the Universities of Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Oxford, as well as at the Hague Academy of International Law. During her doctoral studies, she was selected as a Schindler Junior Scholar at the Institute of International Law and Comparative Constitutional Law at the University of Zurich. In 2025, she was appointed for a five-year term as a member of the Swiss Young Academy.
Outside of academia, she has served as an adviser on the 'Right to Science' for the Geneva Science Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA), a foundation established by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). Prior to embarking on her doctoral studies, she worked in the Legal Affairs Division of the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM).
